You may have numerous inquiries about the course of your treatment if you will shortly begin using clear aligners. We've put together a list of suggestions to keep in mind as you travel down the road to a straighter smile to make the process smoother. Using these suggestions will make receiving treatment and upholding good dental health as easy as possible.

1. You should only remove your aligners to eat, drink, and clean.

You shouldn't take out your aligners whenever you want just because they are removable. You must wear your aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours every day in order to keep your treatment on track. That gives you two to four hours to eat all of your meals, clean and floss your teeth, and consume beverages other than water. This may seem like a long period of time, but after setting a timer each time you sit down to eat, drink, or brush your teeth, you will immediately see how rapidly you fill that brief window.

Your treatment may take longer than expected if you don't wear your aligners for the prescribed 20 to 22 hours each day. Your teeth will move more slowly the longer you wear your aligners out. Pay attention to the advice of Acealign dentists and wear your aligners as directed.

2. Keep Your Aligners Safely Stored

You've probably heard terrifying tales about teenagers who had their retainers stolen by their pets and ended up without them. With clear aligners, the same is true. If you leave them outside, dogs will eat them, and you risk losing them. It's crucial that you keep your aligners in the accompanying case each time you take them out, whether to eat, drink, or brush your teeth. This will stop them from falling out of your pocket or from becoming a dog's new favourite chew toy.

Your treatment will be put on hold while you wait for a replacement aligner to arrive if you do manage to lose or break an aligner. As a result, it can make your treatment take longer than expected.

3. Frequently Clean Your Aligners

You still need to clean your aligners even if you will only wear them for two weeks on average. Otherwise, bacteria and plaque would accumulate, discolour them, and give you terrible breath. You must regularly clean your aligners by soaking them in cleaning crystals and gently brushing them with a soft-bristled toothbrush in order to avoid this from happening. You can do this every morning after brushing and flossing your teeth and every evening before bed. Throughout your treatment, this will assist you in avoiding cavities and maintaining a clean mouth.

You are highly likely to develop foul breath, plaque accumulation, and possibly even gum disease and cavities if you don't consistently clean your aligners. We don't advise clear aligner treatment for you if you can't commit to routinely cleaning your aligners.

4. Frequently Brush and Floss

You can't avoid brushing and flossing your teeth with clear aligners because they are detachable. Thankfully, brushing and flossing are just as simple with clear aligners as they are without them. To keep your aligners fresh and stop oral health issues, continue your regular brushing and flossing practise throughout your treatment. Additionally, we advise brushing your teeth as soon as possible after each meal to remove food particles and keep them from getting on your aligners. After eating or drinking, washing your mouth with water or rapidly chewing on some sugar-free gum will help if you are unable to brush your teeth.

5. Don't neglect dental checkups

Also, there is no justification for skipping dental cleanings. When wearing removable aligners, all you need to do is remove them when seeing the dentist for a cleaning. You are not need to go through the inconvenience of getting your wire taken out. To prevent your oral health from declining and to stop oral health issues in their tracks, keep up your regular oral hygiene practise, including dental cleanings.

6. Replace your aligners in the proper sequence

We will advise you on how frequently to wear each set of clear aligners when you receive them. Patients typically wear each set for around two weeks before switching to the following set. It's crucial that you adhere to our suggested schedule and move on to the appropriate set. You won't be able to put in an aligner for two months from now since it won't fit in your mouth. Your therapy will proceed according to plan if you follow our programme and do things in the right order.
